Chapter 18 The Kinneys
Soon, the day after leaving the trade wind belt, the fleet resumed its voyage. When the voyage was about one day before Captain Parker's mouth, Link finally found signs of some islands at the end of the distant sea level.
When we got closer, we found that these islands were far more than what we saw in the distance. When we passed by these islands, the natives on the shore would run and shout.
In order to prevent the rocket from hitting the rocks, Captain Parker did not let the fleet be too close to the island.
"Are these Kini natives?" Link looked at the figures running on the shore. Although they were not close, they could roughly see the appearance of these natives. The black and red skin was sunburned. Most of them were wearing clothes made of forage, and some natives also carried headdresses such as garlands and weapons, running and chasing the fleet.
The cockpit is the tallest building on the ship, and Link is accompanying Captain Parker who is directing the sailing.
Parker looked at the natives who appeared silently through the unblocked front of the cockpit.
It was not until a straight white smoke emanated from the indigenous island that he shouted to the sailors beside him: "Tele the flag notify the frigate to pass quickly, don't stay!"
After hearing this, the sailor rushed to the deck mast and conveyed the captain's flag-spoken command.
Soon, several frigates in the distance received orders and quickly moved closer to the merchant ship.
The entire merchant ship was filled with busy sailors, and the sails under the mast were quickly lifted, but there was no wind on the sea, and the ship speed was not much higher.
Looking at Captain Parker who was as deep as water, this was the first time Link saw him so serious.
Without harassing him, Link wanted to observe these natives carefully, and he wanted to know what these natives could do to make the entire fleet look like a great enemy.
The fleet sailed between the two islands, crossing these two not-so-small islands, and a series of similar existences could be seen vaguely ahead.
Without letting Link wait for a long time, a raft appeared at the turn of the fleet, with logs arranged, and only a dozen native Ginis stood on it.
‘That’s it? Could it be that they want to use this small raft to chase the fleet?’ It’s really hard to understand how Link looked at the small raft that could fall apart when hit by a merchant ship.
The Gini people on this small raft rowed hard and quickly sailed out. Then behind them, a second, a third, and a fourth ship appeared... Not only did there be Gini rafts on this island, but a large number of the same indigenous rafts appeared on the other side, and they quickly filled the sea in front of the fleet with their oars.
Poor fleet, when there is no wind, the speed of the boat cannot even be as fast as the manual paddling raft.
"Hiss, there must be at least hundreds of rafts, right?"
Link looked at the sea filled with rafts in front of him and was shocked.
“Why not sail from the periphery of the island?”
Link asked Parker in confusion.
"There is no way. Miluo Island is surrounded by these small islands and cannot really walk around. The one I have taken is a safe route without reefs."
"We need to be ready for battle, Link, there will be a raft packing behind us later."
Upon hearing this, Link walked out of the cockpit, came to the side of the ship and looked at the rear of the fleet, and sure enough, there were rafts in groups of three or three.
"Varé, call your tribes on the deck and put them on leather armor."
"Tony, gather all the unlived sailors and let them wait for me here."
Link ordered his men and the entire deck began to get busy.
Soon, the Vigian mercenaries of Vale gathered together and wore leather armor suits. The weapons in their hands were of different shapes. There was no other equipment in the cargo hold that could be called weapons except arrowheads. The weapons in their hands were still all kinds of things that they brought when they were hired, including long axes, nail hammers, thick-backed machetes, etc.
"Today is your first battle with me. I will not treat my subordinates badly, but I will never accept cowards. I will not say much nonsense, it depends on your performance." After Link said that, he asked Valere to take his subordinates to rest and prepare for the battle.
Turning around and looking at the sailors on the other side, there were still thirty or forty people free of them, "Who among you has had this kind of experience today?" Link pointed his finger at the raft group on the sea in front of the fleet.
Some people raised their hands to signal, Link picked an old sailor and asked anxiously: "How will these natives attack?"
The old sailor: "Sir, those black monkeys are rowing rafts to surround our boat, then hook the boat's side with a hook lock, and then climb up to chop and kill."
"Any of you who can shoot arrows?" After asking, I immediately found that I asked a stupid question. Although there were bows on the ship, there were no arrows, only a large number of arrowheads.
"Sir, some of those black monkeys will use an arrow-blowing weapon. Our archers will be attacked by the arrows, and they will be poisoned. They will be paralyzed and unable to move shortly after they are shot."
Link felt it was difficult for a moment, but he didn't expect that these natives had remote attack methods.
"Tony, you take them with you, guard the side of the ship with a tool axe. When the battle begins, you will be responsible for cutting off the indigenous hooks and locks!" These sailors have no combat experience and no weapons and protective gear, and only have the tools and blunt axes that they usually use to repair ships. Link only asked them to do some auxiliary work.
As soon as I finished giving the order, the cockpit blew a harsh horn, which was the agreed signal to receive the enemy!
"Varé! Take your men to the side of the ship!"
Link shouted loudly when he heard the trumpet.
"Bang bang"
The ship beneath him vibrated slightly, and muffled sounds came. Link hurriedly pulled to the side of the boat to check. It turned out that the merchant ship was finally in contact with the indigenous rafts on the sea ahead. The muffled sound came from the bow of the ship, which was the sound of the raft hitting the corners and smashing it.
The sound of "bang bang bang" kept ringing, and the indigenous rafts rushed towards the front of the merchant ship like a mantis arm.
Although the raft was constantly hit, damaged and sunk, it did not effectively kill the natives on the raft. Every time the raft was about to come into contact with the merchant ship, the natives on it would jump to the raft in other safe locations in advance.
This leads to an increasing number of raft blockers at the bow.
Looking around, Link saw a steady stream of rafts flying farther away, while the speed of the merchant ship was blocked by the raft's "suicide attack" slowed down.
Finally, the corner of the bow of the bow squeezed the edge of the raft, making a sour sound of "squeaking", but it could no longer crush it as usual.
The merchant ship was squeezed and forced to stop by the rafts!
The natives of the Gini under the ship cheered unintentionally, and the rafts behind the bow began to surround the sides of the merchant ship and the stern of the boat.
