Chapter 30 Meetings

After finishing his speech, Link quickly turned the topic back to the dilemma that Miluo Island is about to face.

"The next supply fleet is less than three months away."

Link tapped the conference table with his fingers. Tony and others who attended the meeting finally stopped wandering and focused their attention.

"When they arrive here, they are likely to discover the changes on the island. We have to find a way to conceal this news from the Duke."

"Boss, why not just kill the people in the fleet, steal their ships, and go wherever we want."

Tony spoke as irritating as ever.

Link had thought about doing this, after all, when Tony punched the back of the old Bob's neck, this matter could not be saved.

But Duke Louis's name has always been hanging over Miluo Island like a sharp sword.

"We have to find ways to take root on this island.

The climate here is so superior that the crops can be ripe four times a year. As long as you plant food, you can easily be self-sufficient.

The terrain is easy to defend but difficult to attack. As long as you defend near the port, you can effectively resist the enemy's visit to the island.

Even the indigenous peoples in this sea area can become our protective barrier.”

"Then won't we be pirates in the future?"

Jon asked quietly.

Everyone's eyes focused on Link again.

Jon thought he would run away again this time, just like they did before.

"What is the purpose of being a pirate?"

Link looked around for a week and glanced at his subordinates.

"Isn't it for the Golden Snake Coin?

Now that there are so many golden snake coins, why do you still have to go back to live the life of licking blood from the knife?

Think about it, did we save a golden snake coin after half a year?

And do you really think it was your luck to be able to live on sea for half a year?"

"Hmph."

Link cleared his nose, of course he would not say that he could upgrade his subordinates.

Tony, Kenneth and others looked at each other innocently.

‘Mart, we didn’t say we didn’t agree to stay on the island. Jon, who was lying on horseback, talked too much!’

"Boss, just say, how to do it."

Tony took the lead in expressing his opinion, followed by a series of echoes.

When Link saw his subordinates expressing their opinions, he picked up the teacup and drank it, moistening his throat.

"There is no need to worry too much about the strength of the supply fleet."

Link thought about the content of the chat with Captain Parker.

"The frigates and supply ships generally have no more than a hundred guards, and there are only more than three hundred sailors.

There is no need to worry about their combat effectiveness after getting off the ship, and Varre will be able to deal with it with the Vigia guys.

The key is...

Link knocked on the table again to attract attention.

"You can't let a ship that has a supply fleet run away, especially the frigates inside, they are all fast ships. No ship in our port can catch up."

None of Link's men is good at fighting boats. Tony and others are slashing people, so they are completely blind when fighting boats.

Varre and his Virgia guy were both landslides, and they couldn't count on them.

"So, we try to avoid conflicts with the supply fleet, and it is best to hide this from it."

"Sir, if the Duke's leader notices and sends troops to attack, how can we deal with it?"

Carl asked worriedly, feeling that he would definitely not be able to live a displaced pirate career, and the Duke would definitely not let him go, an accomplice who subverted the rule of Miluo Island, so he was the person who most hoped that Link could stay on the island.

"Even if the Duke found out, it would take four months to send troops to attack.

We have to complete self-sufficiency in food within these four months.”

"Sir, we have to recruit enough warriors."

Carl continued Link's words.

"The Duke's leader attaches the most importance to precedent when doing things. The last time when Miluo Island was opened, he was attacked by the Gini people. The Duke's leader sent four brigades of 1,000 professional soldiers to recover Miluo Island. I think this time it should be similar."

"Hiss", 1,000 professional soldiers who maintain training, equipment maintenance, food and salary paid every year must start with a thousand gold snake coins.

‘It seems that old Bob has not much savings. Duke Louis has a size of 10,000 professional soldiers alone. He spends it on it every year and gets tens of thousands of gold snake coins, not to mention that there are even more money-burning vassal knights to support it.’

Link thought for a while and asked, "Is sugar cane so profitable? I remember the main income that the duke received was sugar-making industry?"

"Yes, sir, the sugar industry on the west coast of the Kingdom was monopolized by the Duke. They had the right to set the price, and many small sugar workshops were squeezed out openly and secretly."

"So is Miluo Island very important to the Duke's Corps?"

Carl nodded cautiously: "The Duke will definitely take back Miluo Island at any cost."

Link now has a deeper understanding of the importance of enhancing the combat power of the island.

"You all heard it. Is there any way to recruit enough warriors as soon as possible?"

Link asked his subordinates, hoping that they could give suggestions, and maybe there would be some way to shine.

"Boss, please recruit more pirates. Let's kill the ship sent by the Duke on the sea."

Tony finally made a feasible suggestion, but was quickly killed by Link: "If you want the pirates to attack the official fleet of the Kingdom, it will cost a lot of money, and the pirates' credit is also a problem. There are too many people who don't take money and don't do anything."

"Boss, why not go to my hometown Vigiya to recruit more mercenaries. Vigiya mercenaries are famous for their high cost performance, hard work and great promises."

Varre recommended enthusiastically.

“Yes, Carl writes down this suggestion.

Unfortunately, the northern port has been closed now. I may not have time to recruit mercenaries when the port bleeds."

"Are there any suggestions? Let's talk about it."

Link looked at his subordinates expectingly and hoped that they would give some useful suggestions.

It’s a pity that everyone stared at each other. Link always felt that his strengthening ability was flawed. Although he strengthened his subordinates’ combat ability, their intelligence still did not improve at all.

His eyes looked at Carl standing beside him, and he wanted to speak but stopped, as if he had something to say.

"Carl, tell me."

"Sir, have you ever considered recruiting the Gini warrior?"

Link was stunned. He had never considered it. His two battle performances made him look down on the fighting power of the Gini.

All of you under me are taking the elite route. Not to mention one against ten, one will fight four or five.

And he believed that the Vigya mercenaries would be more eye-catching after upgrading in the later stage, so he looked down on the Gini natives who only knew the human sea tactics.

"I'll just say it. Isn't it a waste of food to recruit them? I can fight a hundred of those natives one!"

Tony said carelessly.

Link thought so in his heart, but he still hit Tony: "Don't forget how he was carried back that day."

Tony remembered the scene of his body being slapped and blown up that day, and struggled with a blushing face and said, "I was careless that day, and there was no flash."
