Chapter 68 The Governor is here

Edward Louis looked at the neatly arranged and fully armed guards on the dock, and hesitated to stop and get off the boat.

Turning around and looking at his guard leader: "Raul, let your people go down first."

The Duke of Louis specially arranged for Edward's guard leader, and competently led his men to get off the boat and take over the dock in the drizzle.

On the other hand, Link felt a little trouble, and the new governor looked quite alert.

So he ran onto the boat in a few steps, and looked like he couldn't wait to see the governor.

"Governor, I've been waiting for you for a long time!"

Edward looked at Link who was saluting him and inadvertently curled his lips. The mercenary-born country bumpkin had an inappropriate manner.

"You are Link, the security manager on the island? Why didn't the manager Bob come?"

"He... the rainy season is coming, he has a cold due to wind and cold, and he is not able to come to greet you because of his health."

Edward frowned and thought to himself that Bob was really brave enough. It was obvious that the Duke sent him, the governor, to check the accounts, but the manor manager, who was involved, did not come to greet him.

‘It must be nice to him!’

After answering the Governor's question, Link saw his old friend Captain Parker behind him.

He hurriedly pretended to be surprised: "Oh! My dear friend Parker! You are finally here!"

Walk forward and hug him.

Parker was also very happy: "Hi, Link, I will be a free man after this trip. You promised me. Let's travel around the world together then!"

Pike, who was thinking about pirates, still did not forget his original intention. As soon as the contract with the Duke ended, he came to "fight" Link.

The two were hugging each other tightly, and Governor Edward rolled his eyes. The country bumpkin mercenary and the garbage captain were really a pair of people. He was still complaining about the bumpy journey.

"How many guards did this fool bring?"

Link asked quietly in the captain's ear.

"I went to the fifty people on the dock. Plus some of them in the three frigates."

"How are their equipment?"

Edward's guards were wearing raincoats when they got off the boat, and Link couldn't see their equipment.

Captain Parker finally realized something was wrong.

"Why are you asking so carefully?"

"Do you believe me? Parker."

Link let go of his tightly held hands and asked seriously, staring at his eyes.

Parker was seen and felt a little scared.

"It's all leather armored armor, nothing special, but the personal bodyguard around Raul has something to do, he is a man under the Duke."

When Link heard this, he looked at Raul, the leader of the guards on the dock. He was practicing the escorts who were disembarrassing the ship. As the direct escort of the duke, he did not want to lose to these foreign mercenaries.

After repeatedly confirming that the four ships had been berthed and tied cables, Link walked towards the side of the ship and whistled at Tony, Carl and others who were staring at him.

The whistle was sharp and sharp, cutting through the heavy rain curtain and was heard by the men on the dock.

Edward, who was about to get off the boat, felt a sudden heart when he heard the whistle, and inexplicably felt a palpitation. He turned around and glared at Link. Before he could scold anything, another shout of killing came from the dock.

The Duke's escort guards who were posing had no time to react, and the mountain crossbowmen who were ready to go took the initiative and repaid two neatly arranged rows of guards in a round of volleys.

"Enemy attack!"

The guard leader Raul shouted shrillly.

The Vigian mercenaries with big shields lined up in neat rows and approached the guards at the edge of the dock step by step.

A noisy "Woola" sound came from the port hall further away, and soon the indigenous soldiers wearing yellow-brown leather armor surrounded the dock.

"You defected to that manor manager!?"

Edward, who was awakened by the tragic situation of the guards on the dock, looked at Link and said furiously.

"I? Resign to Old Bob? No, no, no."

Link waved his hand and pulled out the sword at his waist. It was Teresa's gift, the Silver Mist Ranger's Sword.

The flashing sword blade of the cold light made Edward pale. He knew that the other party was from a gladiator, but he couldn't even raise the slightest fighting spirit of resistance.

There was a "slam".

Edward, with his eyes closed, did not wait for the expected sword.

The sword cut towards the merchant ship's gangway and broke the retreat of the duke's guards on the dock.

"Let them surrender."

Link held up his long sword and crossed his way around Edward's neck.

With a "gurgle", Edward, who was beating in his heart, held back his legs, swallowed, and said tremblingly to Link:

"Even if I ask them to surrender, you won't let me go, but you don't have to follow Bob all the way to the dark. I promise you that if you give up Bob following me, I will definitely not pursue your behavior today!"

"Oh? You're not that stupid."

Link felt like a big villain now, and he wouldn't kill him when he listened to the other party's slap.

"With Bob's lack of future, when the Duke leads the army to come to an end, these guards on Miluo Island will not be able to hold on for a day. It's not too late for you to regret it now."

Edward persuaded him with great thoughts, and during this time he was distracted from the battle situation on the dock. Few of the Duke's escort guards he brought could still stand. The Vigya mercenaries were close behind him and axe chopped the wharf, leaving a piece of broken limbs and broken arms on the dock. The wooden floor under the Duke's escort guards was soaked with blood, and even the drizzle could not be dispersed.

This bloody scene made his heart tremble.

"What you said makes sense. To be honest, I was really moved."

Edward was ecstatic and thought things had turned around.

"Bang"

Link flipped his sword and slapped Edward's head with his sword body. He was caught off guard and was instantly slapped.

"It's a pity that I'm the mastermind behind the scenes, haha!"

Link also wanted to do this, but he had no way out.

Putting away his sword, Link looked at Captain Parker who was already stunned.

"Welcome to my Miluo Island!"

In the evening, the war at the dock finally ended. Under the heavy siege, the crew of the frigate chose to surrender.

Edward was ordered to be locked in a dungeon by Link, and the crew members of the Duke in the fleet were sent to the island to participate in the "labor reform" with the previous Miluo Island guards.

With Link's patient explanation, Captain Parker finally calmed down.

"So you killed old Bob and took over this island?"

"You know, I have no choice, and I can't help it once the old Bob dies."

Link spread his hands helplessly.

"You are really crazy. No one can resist the Duke's army. Your subordinates... Well, your subordinates look good, but the Duke has tens of thousands of professional soldiers. You won't be so angry that you want to defend Miluo Island, right?

Why not listen to me and let’s go on the sea together. I have a premonition that we will definitely make a name for ourselves!”
